Bethlehem in the Afternoon

If you go to Jerusalem you cannot miss the opportunity to go to the Palestinian territories and more precisely in Bethlehem. You can catch a bus for only 7 shekels from the Damascus Gate. As a tourist and a non-citizen of Israel you can do that without any problems. The city of Bethlehem is very small but I found it to be surprisingly charming. In my opinion, people were nicer and everyone was more relaxed. We also did a bit of shopping becase here, everything was cheaper. You can visit the church where Jesus Christ was born, but for me this was my least favorite religious place. Everyone was taking photos and there were huge crowds of tourists. Moreover, when we visited this city the Russians were celebrating their Christmas so we could not help but notice that there were many Christmas decorations. One the things I loved about Bethlehem was that some walls had something written on them: I can’t read Arabic, so I don’t know what the message was, but I think this added a little bit of Oriental mystery and dedication to the whole region.
