I don’t know if it ever happened to you, to have a rainy cold week and after a while the clouds would dissipate and leave a fresh air with a perfect sunlight. This is the image I will always associate with Ohrid: a sunny day, a sweet breeze and the clear water of Lake Ohrid. It is important to know that Ohrid is the oldest city in Europe, is the former capital of Macedonia and it is part of the UNESCO patrimony. If you arrive from Skopje, Ohrid will definitely change your impression on Macedonia. It feels like communism didn’t even exist in this region. The people here are very friendly and hospitable. You have to lose yourself in the narrow, twisted and paved with stone streets and you must admire the white buildings. The thing I enjoyed the most in this city was the fact that you will always have on your left the lake. You can also visit the fortress and you can go up the walls and see the city from above. It is an interesting place and I assure you, you will regret it if you are close and you will not visit it.
